Modelling Competition 2020

The competition was judged by  Greg from the Beckenham and West Wickham Model Railway Club and Steve from the 3mm Society.

Entries were made by Croydon Model Railway Club members in to five categories. The results for each category are as follows

The Tom Holloway Cup

For any scratch-built/hand-built locomotive or rolling stock.

Winner: Stephanie for a snow and ice treatment train (SITT). Scratch-built superstructures on two 40-year-old Hornby container flats (00).

The Chairman’s Mug

For any kit-built locomotive or rolling stock.

Winner:  Dave for a narrow-gauge Bagnall side tank locomotive.  Narrow Planet 3D printed body, brass overlays and white metal fittings.  Adapted minitrains chassis (009).

The Chairman’s Mug

For any kit-built locomotive or rolling stock.

Highly commended: Ray for an LMS 12-ton ventilated van built from a Parkside Dundas kit (3mm/ft).

The CMRS Award (The Society Shield)

For any super-detailed or modified proprietary locomotive or rolling stock.

Winner: Martine for a Schools Class locomotive with crew, real coal, route discs and weathering (00).

For any super-detailed or modified proprietary locomotive or rolling stock.

Highly commended: Ken for a GWR Class 158 3-car DMU modified from two Farish class 158s of different vintages (N).

The Officers’ Trophy

For any item of railway modelling excluding locomotives or rolling stock.

Winner: Dave for a scratch-built row of cottages from artist’s mounting board, L Cut windows, Wills corner stones and Plastruct pieces (00).

Highly commended: Richard for a pump house (00).

The John Sayers Memorial Shield

Awarded at the judges’ discretion for the best model in any category by a member who has not won an award before.
